Maxwell Transport Fuel Levy Policy

As a road user, you are undoubtedly aware of the instability in fuel pricing. Fuel is our second largest expense and given the constant fluctuations, a fuel levy will be implemented immediately to ensure that we are able to sustain financial viability and continue to provide quality service levels to all our clients.

Rather than increasing our schedule rates across the board, which would then require further adjustments should prices continue to rise and additional adjustments should prices return to previous levels, we have developed a formula that accurately reflects changes as they happen and can be effected with a minimum of fuss and administration.

Detailed analysis has shown that a 5 cent per litre (cpl) increase in fuel cost equates to a 1% increase in our cost of completing the transport components of a job. Our current rates are structured on a diesel fuel price of 85 cents per litre. Therefore a fuel price increase above 90 cpl would require a 1% adjustment, above 95 cpl a further 1% adjustment, above 100 cpl a further 1% adjustment and so on.

Unless specified, this surcharge will be a separate line item on your invoice. If this component of the invoice is not to be shown, we will require notification prior to invoicing and we will accommodate your requirement. We will only apply the surcharge to the fuel related component of any job performed.

We will calculate the levy percentage on the basis of the below:

Three times each month, on the 10th, 20th and at end of month, we will determine the average price of diesel in Melbourne using the published prices for Metro Fuel Cards in Melbourne Metro inclusive of freight. These can be verified at www.caltex.com.au

Using 85 cpl as a base, each increase in fuel prices greater than 5 cpl will attract a 1% fuel levy on the transport component of jobs performed during the following invoice period. Based on these figures the average price is 131.5 cpl and accordingly the levy for the month of August will be 8%.

We look forward to being of service for many years to come.
